Lanterna is a library for building GUI in text mode. It has its simple structure and components that are similar to those provided in authentic GUI environment.
You can study the structure of it first, and try to understand example code. Then consult its Javadoc, which you can download to your machine, extract it and open its index.html with a web browser.
